Your Questions, Answered

Finding the right therapist is a bit like finding the right pair of shoes…the "fit" is everything.
I offer an initial consultation that lasts 30–45 minutes. This is a dedicated space (over the phone or video call) for us to get to know one another and see if we “click”.
What to expect:
A "Taste" of Therapy: You’ll get a sense of my personality and approach to see if it resonates with you.
Exploring Your Needs: I’ll get a sense of what is coming up for you to determine if my skillset aligns with your needs and goals.
Asking Questions: This is your time to ask me anything about how I work, my background, or the process.
What if it's not a fit? Sometimes, based on our conversation, I may realize that another therapist’s specific expertise would serve you better. If I’m not the right fit for you, I won’t leave you hanging, I will provide you with vetted referrals for practitioners who may be a better match for your specific needs.

Investment for a 60 Minute Individual Therapy Session: $165
Investment for a 90 Minute Individual Therapy Session: $245
I’m aware that finances are a substantial factor for some of us when deciding whether to attend therapy, and I reserve a small number of reduced-cost sessions for this reason. If you can pay my full rate, I ask that you do. If it would create too great of a hardship to do so, please inquire about reduced-cost sessions.
Payment is due at the time of service via debit card, credit card, HSA or check.

I believe in a non-pathologizing approach to therapy. I typically do not diagnose and therefore I am not contracted with any private insurances.
This model allows us to prioritize your privacy, personalize your care and ensure that our work together is guided by your needs rather than an insurance company’s mandates.
If you have Tricare or Medicaid, I ask that you let me know because both of these insurances can affect your eligibility to work with me, even as a self-paying client.

Depending on your insurance plan, you may be able to receive significant reimbursement through your Out-of-Network (OON) benefits. The process is simple:
You pay the full fee ($165) at the time of our session
I provide you with a Superbill (a detailed receipt) following our session
You submit that Superbill to your insurance company (often via an app)
Your insurance company reimburses you directly for a percentage of the fee (usually the reimbursement percentage is 50-90% of the session cost)
Curious about what your out-of-network benefits are? Just call your member services number (usually listed on the back of your insurance card) and ask your insurance representative the following questions:
"What are my out-of-network benefits for outpatient psychotherapy (CPT code 90837)?"
"Do I have an out-of-network deductible? If so, how much is remaining?"
"Once my deductible is met, what percentage of the session fee will be reimbursed?"
"How do I submit a claim for out-of-network benefits?"

I require 48 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling. This allows me the opportunity to offer that time to another client if needed. Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours notice will be charged the full session fee. I do not charge for emergent situations like emergencies, or becoming ill…the things in life we can’t see coming and plan around.

I only work with adults ages 18 years and older.

Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. It’s tailored to your unique history, goals, personality, and the kinds of challenges you’re navigating. Because of that, there’s no reliable way to predict at the outset exactly how long you’ll be in therapy.
I generally recommend starting with weekly sessions, especially in the beginning. Meeting weekly helps us build a strong, trusting relationship and creates the consistency needed for meaningful progress. As our work unfolds, some people choose to shift to every-other-week sessions, and eventually to monthly sessions once substantial healing and growth have taken place.
You are not committed to or limited to any certain number of sessions. You’re welcome to come for as long as it feels helpful. We’ll periodically revisit your goals and progress so you can adjust the pace of therapy in a way that best supports your growth.
The work I love to do is depth-oriented…getting to the root of present-day struggles rather than just managing symptoms. Because of that, many clients work with me for several years. Others may engage in therapy for a few years, wrap up that chapter of work, and then return later during a new season of life. Therapy can be a steady support or something you come back to as needed.
Most importantly, goodness of fit matters. My goal is to help you connect with a therapist who feels like the right fit for you…someone you feel safe and comfortable doing deep inner healing and growth work with. That might be me, or it might not (I’m not everyone’s cup of tea!). If at any point you feel the fit isn’t right, you won’t hurt my feelings. We can talk about it openly, discuss adjustments we can make, or I can help connect you with someone who feels more aligned for you.
This process is ultimately about supporting your healing, growth, and well-being at a pace and in a way that feels right for you.

To get the most out of our time, I ask that you complete the online paperwork 24 hours prior to your first session so I have time to review it before we meet. Completing the initial paperwork will help you get clear on what your blocks are and will support you in reflecting on what you want to get out of therapy. Please bring any remaining questions you might have to our first session.
In our first session together, there is no pressure to go deep right away. I’m aware that I will still be a somewhat of a stranger to you and that trust builds in small moments over time. For healing and growth to happen we need to go at a pace that your nervous system can tolerate, usually one that’s a little challenging but mostly comfortable.
During our first session we will keep getting to know each other, we may outline a plan to start working toward your goals, and if you’re up for it we will also have time to begin talking about the things that have been on your mind. Most importantly, your job is to show up as yourself, all parts of you are welcome!
